Hey Nana,
It has been two years to the day since you passed away. Saying goodbye over Messenger Video was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do–and it’s something that still haunts me to this day. I’m sure you’ve kept an eye on me, but in case you haven’t: a lot has changed.
For starters, Beauregard and I live and am based in Cincinnati, Ohio now–a rapid departure from the small town vibe of my hometown and where my family moved to a few months after you passed away, for sure. But I love it here and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

While it’s true I do work on some really cool stuff for [a very big company] now, I also started a company with Tyson, like I always said I was going to do. We’re a media production and web/design consultancy firm hybrid. You’ll recognize those are my two biggest passions aside from technology, and it’s something I know you’d be incredibly proud of.

I still think of you every time I see a cardinal. There are a lot of those here in Cincinnati, and there’s always one in particular that stares in the window of my partner and I’s office at my in-laws’ every morning as I’m doing my email. I often wonder if it’s you checking in on me. It probably is.
Love you always,
Slade
