Having been raised as an Evangelical Christian, I still continue to practice parts of that faith despite the fact that I do not attend church anymore nor do I agree with a lot of the viewpoints the sect (or its main organization, The Alliance, holds).
I won’t get into what I believe and don’t believe nowadays, but what my faith over the years has taught me is to 1) forgive myself and others, and better myself when I do make a mistake; 2) recognize that a situation is too much and back away, and; 3) know my worth.
Knowing your worth is a lesson that can only be taught through many hard lessons. Facing the music like that is tough. But in dealing with complicated, awkward situations, you learn. That’s both the worst part and beauty of being human.
It’s important to remember, in those moments, you cannot control how others react and you can only control your own reactions. Wrong or right, mean or nice, they’re going to react how they react and that’s up to them. We’re all human, at the end of the day. Everything for you on your own timeline, not someone else’s (that’s a lesson I had to learn the hard way.)
Let it flow, communicate, things will work out. Remember your worth, and keep moving forward. And most of all, keep your head up.
