  • March 2026 really, truly sucked. For a lot of reasons. I don’t know when things will be back to normal again, but I know things still sting right now and I’m trying to wrap my head around them. I don’t know what else to say. But I promise I’m trying and I will be back once I’m strong enough.

    A note:
I scheduled this in advance, right before my “spring break” announcement. March was an awful month filled with horrible things that I don’t wish to recall. So, once again these are inspired heavily by what I’m living through.

Tomorrow, there will be the usual Months in Pictures post. After that, I don’t know when I’ll be back. We’ll play it by ear, but I won’t be making any guarantees. Things are really awful and I need to focus all of my remaining energy on healing.

  • Sharing my post on Nerd In Sight (crossposted):

    Hey everyone,

I’m going to be honest: I have only been writing the past couple of weeks because of contractual obligations that have bound me into doing so. You’ve likely noticed I’ve been very quiet otherwise — there is a reason (actually: many reasons) for that, and I’m sure I will talk about it in due time, once things aren’t so fresh.

But as the primary writer here, it is my job to keep this site regularly updated, which becomes increasingly hard when I’m going through a lot of very difficult-to-process things in my personal life.1

As such, Nerd In Sight is taking a “spring recess” until at least 16th April, 2026. While this date seems perfect for me at the moment and should give me ample time to rest and recover, it could go longer if I’m not well enough to pick up where I left off at that time. Let’s play it by ear, okay?

There are 15,000+ strong reading every month here now, which is just mind-blowing to me. Thank you for being here! I hope to see all of you back here very soon.

Look, I’d very much like to forget March ever happened. This has been a terrible month–with one bad day after the next. But you know the old saying,“when it rains, it pours?” Turns out, it’s true!

I’m hoping to ease back in after a trip I have coming up. I’ve been trying to catch up on messages but I’m so very behind. I don’t know if I’ll catch up for a bit. Sorry if that includes you.

    I’ll be back soon,

    Slade

    1. “No one in my life has noticed just how exhausted I’ve been–both physically and emotionally–this month, because I’ve been so damn good at masking it. But the masking has been exhausting, too, and I’m so very tired. I hope you can forgive me for needing to step away from my duties for a while.” ↩︎
