Also find me on Nerd In Sight, and elsewhere!

  • On January 27, 2021, I published my final Participation in Government project to Medium. Not only did I really want to (because I felt it was extremely important), but I also felt it was the right time to encourage the people behind me–the Juniors and Sophomores–at my high school to get out and vote when their time came.

Now, in 2026, with what’s happening in our country right now–especially following the killings of American citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti–it felt even more important to republish elsewhere. So I am.

This is the final project from Government that I submitted to my beloved homeroom & Government teacher, Mr. Bova. It is as it was found in 2021, links and all (so keep in mind: information shared, including those links, might be incorrect and/or broken five years later.)

My message to you now, five years later, is simple: Register to vote. Keep protesting. Keep peacefuly yelling at the rooftops to anyone who will listen about the injustices happening right now. Keep. At. It. We ALL have rights under The Constitution of this country for a reason, regardless of what ANY administration says.

  • For years, I’ve wanted to write a tech-focused blog. I kind of had that with this very website–but it wasn’t what I had envisoned. Then it was a one-off conversation with Mr. Wolf Emeraldtalon that snowballed into registering a new domain.

Introducing Nerd In Sight, an outlet for me to specifically talk about tech and spread out a little bit more. This makes several “blogging homes” for me on the internet:

    • This website (formerly Slade’s Corner) for photography, hobby, and other creative works. This is where I get to be creative!
    • Of course there’s Kakariko Herald, where my friends and I will be blogging about all things gaming, and making videos (soon-ish) on all that, too!
    • And finally, Nerd In Sight for all your technology and adjacent category blogging. A play on words, and more importantly, a place for me to more comfortably nerd out about tech!

Nerd In Sight launches today. Kakariko Herald’s new video features launch by the end of 2025. And as a reminder, my YouTube and Twitch begin their series of relaunches next month into the end of the year.

  • I have a couple of announcements I’d like to share.

First, I’m announcing the official launch of my YouTube channel will occur on December 2nd, 2025, which is its 10 year anniversary. Here, I’d like to personally thank André Segers and ALL of my friends for being huge supports by looking over ideas, encouraging its creation, being a shoulder to lean on while things went south last month. It truly means the world. The channel itself will focus on tech and games, with more details on the direction soon. (Think “lots of research” and scripted is the best way to put it!) You can find me here.

Second, and last, I’m excited to share that I’ll be live-streaming *regularly* on Twitch beginning November 2025. You are able to follow and subscribe beginning today at twitch.tv/sladewatkins, and the official weekly schedule will be announced before then. VODs will be edited into their own content AND also put on a separate YouTube account too. I’m still working out more details and will share an exact date soon. November 2025 is for sure though! Keep an eye out…

Thanks for your support while I’ve been going through everything. Life has been really, really wild and honestly, I’m still not sure what the future holds. Here’s to whatever is next! It’ll be worth it, I’m sure!

  • Early this week, I was excited when I received the Pixel 10 Pro Fold prior to launch. That thing came out of the box so fast, it wasn’t even funny. Having spent a few days with it, however, I have some thoughts. And they’re mostly positive! Which is interesting, considering all of you know me to be an iPhone-heavy user these days.

Just to put this out there, I disagree that having a foldable phone is “always going to be a niche” thing. I do foresee it going mainstream, once Apple throws their hat into the ring with their own foldable iPhone. Give it time, it’ll happen. I’m sure of it. Just like I’m sure of the AI bubble bursting and passing on eventually.

Truth is, I’ve felt really productive on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. I work from home, so I enjoy stepping away–still feeling like I can stay connected to work and go run an errand or something if there’s not much left to do for the day. If I need to get into something in an emergent manner, I totally can. There’s a tablet in my pocket with access to everything I need for work.

You’ve likely heard tech reviewers say “foldables are something you have to see to believe,” almost ad nauseum. But I am telling you, it’s true, they really are. They’re remarkable! They flex between tablet and phone, entertainment, work, and personal devices. All of that in such a thin package now, it’s wild!

And that translates into durability, too. My Pixel 10 Pro Fold, for instance, is IP68 water and dust resistant, the same as most other flagship phones on the market. That sort of resistance on a foldable is unheard of. In fact, it might actually be a first.

Before I close out, I did want to address one thing: the modem. Testing on both Verizon and Google Fi (T-Mobile; my current provider), both networks tested at really excellent levels. Look, it’s no Qualcomm modem, but it’s certainly up there!

We can count this as the conclusion in the series that I began all those months ago. “Will Slade finally switch back to Android?”

The answer’s yes. Introducing, my new daily driver.

  • This was an incredibly difficult month, but here are some shots of things to make it better…

May October be a fun, spooky month filled with way less stress. See you next month with more pictures (I’m going to be dragging people out for some cool shots, I promise!!)
